How to Sign Symbian Applications

If you are geek and like to sign the applications the hard way , follow this guide , if you want to sign the applications/games quickly and easily , follow this new guide i posted that explains the process in a rather easy way, using other tools to sign applications quickly , Click here
I’m posting this since signing an application has been an issue for lots of people , though somehow it’s an easy process
- Go to Symbiansigned.com and register for an account , the problem here is that it doesn’t accept publicly available email domains like Gmail.com , so you have to register with a private domain name a.k.a yourname@yourwebsite.com
- After Registration , Click on My Symbian Signed > Open Signed “on the left of the page” , then download a tool called DevCertRequest from the bottom of the page or direct link Click here
- Install the downloaded tool , then start the program ,
On the left of the program , there is 5 steps so here’s what you do in every step :
1- Specify the name of the output file , Just write any name
2- Choose No in ACS Pub ID Available
then in the private key ,click on the dots beside it and choose Sultan.key from the needed files , download these files click here , the password is : 0123456
3- Type in your info
4- Click on the dots beside the IMEI , then type in your IMEI “you can get yours by typing *#06# in your Phone” then click add then OK , in the application capabilities , add all the capabilities then click next
5- Congrats ,Your .CSR file is now ready in Program Files\Symbian OS Tools\Developer Certificate Request\ - Go Back to symbiansigned.com , click on My Symbian signed > Open Signed “on the left” > Request “underneath it”
- At the bottom of the page , Browse and choose the .CSR file in the previous extension ” Step 3-5 ” , and click Send
- in the next Page , download the certificate by clicking download
- Put ALL the downloaded Files “from Step 2 ” , the unsigned application and the certificate downloaded in one folder
- Open Notepad and then click file > Open then choose the file auto_signsis.bat from the folder ,
signsis FExplorer.sis FExplorer_signed.sis xxxxxx.cer sultan.key 0123456 <<< Appears in notepadsignsis OOOOOO.SIS Signedapplication.sis xxxx.cer sultan.key 0123456 << Paste this instead in notepad where OOOO is the name of the file of unsigned application and XXXX is the name of the file of the downloaded certificate - Save the file in Notepad “don’s save as , just Save !! ” then open the file in windows , you’ll see that a new file is created called signed application

great guide, tried to sign the ‘rotateme’ app and everything seemed ok until i tried to install it on my phone. “constrained by certificate” was the error. still a great guide though!!
Hi, I haved follwed your instruction, but I have a problem at the last part, I dont see any new file is created called signed application, even that I changed the value of the auto_signsis.bat . Any one help..

you say that it doesn’t accept publicly available email domains, wher can i get a mail adress that Symbiansigned.com will accept, i tried a lot of diffrent mail adress but no one will seems to work. pleas giv me a tip of a free mail adress that Symbiansigned.com will accept. thanks for the help

Thanks for the guide. Works great, got “rotateme 2.0″ running on my N95 8GB.
One thing though, the *.CSR file needs to be uploaded twice before I get to the page that enables me to download.
Other than that, everything else is just great!

Those of you who can’t manage the last part just check the link on the end of the post with pictures. That’s how I manged to make it work.

I CANT SEEM TO GET THIS BIT TO WORK, WHERE DOES THE NEW FILE APPEAR? WHAT DOES IT MEAN OPEN IN WINDOWS? PLEASE HELP!!!!
I DID IT! How stupid of me, I missed a full stop from the file name thats why it was not creating the new file. Magical bit of software! Absolutely love it.

who came up with this stupid sequence of signing…..Nokia you lot should learn from the SSL auto handshaking mechanism!
It’s a shame they’re blocking various ISP email addresses for legitimate registrations.
Worked a treat, I signed up to http://www.endjunk.com for an email address which worked fine. Thanks for the guide, I didn’t have a single hiccup.
Its required to have a publisher ID now, Won’t let you make a request without it. Plz advice

- Open Signed Online and Offline for users without a Publisher ID will NOT be available temporarily, an update will be provided during Week beginning 25th Feb
- If you have recently obtained a Publisher ID and are unable to create a Developer Certificate using Open Signed Offline please request support through the Symbian Signed forum on the Symbian Developer Network
there is no (free) way around it yet, and i bet a lot of people will be annoyed with this (devs in particular) cause it affects the usability and popularity of all unsigned apps from now on

No Publisher ID – any news yet? Over a month on and still no workaround? come on guys

You can always use Open Signed but it supports a limited number of applicaions
