N81 8GB Review: IV-Conclusion
Kirollos Fares | February 5, 2008The N81 has been my closet buddy for the past two weeks, as I said before, it completely replaced my N95, I used it to listen to my daily dose of Music, browsing the web, Anything possible , I’ll jump right away to the Pros and cons
Pros:
- Sleek stylish design
- Dedicated music keys
- Dedicated gaming keys
- Naviwheel
- Funky Lock key
- Amazing quality of the LED flash
- High quality loudspeakers
- The 8GB Mass Memory
- Wi-Fi integration
- Long lasting battery life
Cons:
- Camera quality isn’t up to the limit
- The idea of having 16 keys in front of the device
- Absence of preview key
- Absence of accelerometer chip
What I Like about the firmware:
- Nokia Maps integration
- Voice Aid, Enabling the disabled to easily access phone menus and settings
- Slide handling setting, letting you choose what the device automatically does when the slide is opened/closed
- The ability of using the gaming keys to zoom in/out in Gallery
What should be included in the next firmware:
- Landscape mode, being turned on/off by a hotkey
- Flipping the N-Gage landscape mode from 270 to 90, or giving the N81 users the chance to choose
- Making the Naviwheel usable in ALL applications, not just Music & Gallery
- Removing the tons of bugs in the Music application
- Add Flash lite 3 support
Final Thoughts of the device:
The N81 is one exceptional Nokia for a lot of good reasons I stated before, like the addition of the Naviwheel, the dedicated gaming keys, the 8GB memory.
The N81 has more of the characteristics of an iPod than that of a phone, The 8GB Mass Memory, the Naviwheel, Nokia music store support, Integrated radio, all these really show how strong the N81 music capabilities are.
If you’re addicted to music and would like to get a phone to replace your MP3 Player, the N81 8GB is your #1 choice, Specially with Bose that I didn’t get to trial
, and according to what I’ve heard from bloggers that are bragging about it, is that the Music quality is heavenly!
Moreover, The N81 is one hell of an internet tablet, with Wi-Fi, a relieving easy to use keyboard, Internet telephony, The internet experience granted by the N81 is exceptional.
Navigation isn’t so much of a problem with the N81, all it needs is a simple map, downloadable from Nokia Map Loader which is a PC/Mac application and a Bluetooth GPS, using it in real life while walking could be a pain in the butt, but using it as a Car Navigation system is pleasantly easy.
If you’re a Gaming addict, and would like a cell phone with awesome gaming capabilities, the N81 here could be your forever gaming buddy, with dedicated gaming keys, support for N-Gage, Massive 8gb memory, Gaming would be a delight.
The only letdown that is bugging me 24/7 when I use the device is the camera quality, My usual daily usage of any mobile phones involves taking lots of snapshots, for literarily anything, but with the N81, I did take snapshots, but not as much as I used to, the only positive thing in this dilemma is that it shoots photos very fast, speedy as a digital cam.
Stay Tuned for the N76 VS. N81 8GB comparison.
