Welcome To The Improved Nseries Blog

Kirollos Fares | March 28, 2008

champagne.jpgFellow Readers,

Welcome to the Improved Nseries Blog, Previously known as The N95 Blog, The Blog has been renamed to Nseries Blog instead of N95 Blog, because I felt that the name is so limited, and that I shouldn’t have blogged about anything but the N95, the new URL is www.nseriesblog.com.

If you’re reading this in your RSS Feed, there’s no need to change it, as you were lucky enough to subscribe to the feedburner feed that is manageable and transferable by me.

If you’re coming from The N95 Blog, Thanks for sticking to reading me, and for being such a good reader for all this god knows time.

If this is your first visit, and you never visited The N95 Blog before, then welcome abroad, I recommend picking up my RSS feed, so you can read my new posts without having to come here every now and then “Though I recommend doing that ;) “

Cheers,

Kirollos Fares

N95’s V21.0.016 Hits NSU

Kirollos Fares | March 26, 2008

n95-firmware.jpgNokia N95’s new firmware version is available now for download via Nokia Software Updater, The new V21 version contains dramatic changes including: Flash Lite 3 and Widget Support, with lots of bug-fixes.

In order to have the new firmware installed on your N95, you need to download and install Nokia Software Updater on your PC.

The process of updating my N95 is done, but frankly, I’m not 100% happy about the new firmware, for instance, Because till now the N95 doesn’t support User Data Preservation, The Update will “As Always” delete everything on the phone memory, and will ruin most installed applications on your device, The first problem is easily solved by backing up your phone memory, but the second one’s solution is a bit pain in the ass, which to install every app you had again, something that’ll keep me busy during the day!

But still, I got Flash Lite, Viewing videos on my N95 is really amusing, guess I won’t be using emtube no more, but the only problem about video viewing is power usage, My N95’s battery lasted for a record breaking 3-4 hours! so it’s advisable to view videos only when your N95 is plugged into the wall.

Set Up Push Gmail On S60

Kirollos Fares |

logo1.gifSteve Litchfield from All About Symbian wrote an excellent guide on how to set up Push Gmail on your S60-Powered device, The term pushing e-mail means receiving e-mails you’re sent the moment it hits your e-mail account on your mobile phone, it was first introduced by Blackberry.

This excellent Guide will guide you through setting your Gmail Mailbox, and enabling auto-retrieval of e-mails every 5 minutes or so, It only took me only 5 minutes to set this up, and till now it saved me tons of minutes as I don’t have to keep signing in my gmail every minute or so, when an e-mail comes, the phone will buzz!

Kirollos Fares |

blue_n95_headed_feature.jpgNew dead sexy colour will be released for the N95-1, But those lucky Japanese people, Not only do they get good sushi, but an exclusive blue N95 colour!
The Brand new Blue N95s will be sold exclusively via Softbank, A Japanese carrier.

So, I’d totally appreciate it if one of my Japanese readers bought the new blue N95, Ripped the back off, and sent it to me via mail “E-mail me for the address” :p

Nokia, Please universalize your covers, right now there’s blue N95s in Japan, Black and Pink N95s in Italy, Red N95s in the US and Hollow N95s in Egypt “That means that they’re not sold here, or by other words, Banned!”

N-Gage First Access Ending With A Game Giveaway

Kirollos Fares | March 23, 2008

The so called First Access of N-gage is ending on march 27th according to N-Gage Blog, No one’s sure whether they’ll release the final version directly after that, and the end of the first access period means that Nokia no longer supports the first access N-gage app, and that all you’ve done raising your N-Gage points and your saved games will be struck by a tsunami once you install the full release of N-Gage “In other words, it’ll be gone!”, Which is something really annoying, I don’t care about the points, but I worked hard playing creatures of the deep, and I certainly don’t want to lose that data.

I almost forgot to write about the giveaway part, I’m sure that made you rethink reading this post, Nokia wants to reward all N-gagers out there, for trying out the service, and If you fill in the survey “Subject:N-Gage ofcourse, you’ll recieve by e-mail an activation code for an upcoming Mile High Pinball game” and 1000 community points.

I previously summed up my thoughts about the First Access here.
