Proporta USB Mobile Device Charger Review

Kirollos Fares | April 16, 2008

Is your cellphone always attached to the wall? Are you from the elite group that charges their phones once, and sometimes twice daily "That includes me, I know I published before a post on saving energy through your Nokia, But I try to save energy the conventional way, turning off lights and so on", Does your mobile always flashes "Battery Low!!!", If you positively answered all the previous questions, Then the device I am about to review is meant to be in your pocket.

Proporta USB charger is a rechargeable battery that stores an impressive 3400 mAH worth of charge, It acts as an electric storage device that stores power, and when you’re on the go, or in places where power is not available, Connecting your cellphone/gadget to the Proporta mobile charger will immediately start the charging process, without the need of being attached to a power source.

The Travel Survival Kit includes:

  • The USB Rechargeable battery
  • World AC "100-240V" Power Charger with changeable Power Heads "The Package includes 4 heads you can use with the power charger: UK, European, Australian and USA compilable heads"
  • Car Charger
  • Retractable cable which is compatible with included 7 connector heads

Look:

The Proporta USB charger has the genes of an apple gadget, it rocks in an iPoddish white finish with rounded edges, and unlike most USB chargers, The Proporta USB Charger fits in all pockets, light and it’s dimensions is much comparable to that of the N95.

It’s relativley small dimensions makes it easy to hook it to your device/gadget, and slip them in your pocket.

Dimensions: 3.9 x 2.4 x 0.6 Inch

Simplicity:

What I like about this USB charger is how simple it is to charge devices, normally devices featuring one button only are hard to operate, but with the Proporta Charger, it’s a different story, When you want to charge any gadget, just click the lonely button found on the charger, connect the gadget/device to it, and that’s it!

When it comes to maintaining and saving the charge inside the Proporta USB charger, It does a good job in keeping the electrons in, When the device/Gadget you’re charging is fully charged, The Proporta USB charger will switch off automatically.
If you click the lonely button to charge a device, and never connect one, the proporta automatically switches off within 20 seconds.

When the proporta is charging it’s last electrons, The button light flashes indicating that it needs to be recharged again.

Charging Capabilites:

The Proporta USB charger was able to charge my Nokia N95, Nokia 6670, iPod, Samsung D600 and a Motorola RAZR "Not Mine!" , The Only device it couldn’t charge was the Samsung D900.

The Website promises the Proporta to charge the N95 3.6 times, But I was only able to squeeze 2.5 times worth of charge from the proporta, not a disappointment to me, as this thing managed to keep my N95 from being connected to the wall for a record-breaking 5 days.

The Only complain I have about it’s charging capabilities isn’t related to the product itself, but to the Proporta website where there is no list of devices that can be charged through the proporta, Publishing such a list can result into unprecedented sales.

Recharging Capabilities:

When there’s no charge left in the proporta, and it’s time for a Good ol’ recharge, there’s no mess when it comes to finding the right switch that converts the power head or finding the right transistor that converts the potential difference to match the country of your residence, the Proporta power charger works on every spot on the planet, The power chargers features a changeable head slot and Travel Survival Kit comes with 4 power heads, just choose the head that matches your region, and plug it in, no worries about potential difference as it accepts input voltages "100-240V".
Also, The Proporta USB charger can be charged from any laptop/PC through a regular USB connection.

Final Words:

The Proporta USB charger is a must have gadget to every tech-junkie in the world, as well as the pro-average users, This device is really helpful for people constantly traveling, Hiking or even camping, the endless count of devices supported by the charger makes it a stupid decision to pass out on buying this gadget.
