Cheap N96 Alternative announced: Nokia N85

In an event in London, Nokia announced the newest member in the Nseries family, the N85, at the first glance, this phone looks similar to the N81 “Typical”, and sports nearly the same specs of the Nseries devices i.e. The 5 Megapixel camera, GPS and WiFi, but with MAJOR changes when It comes to the Screen, Connectivity, USB Charging and Battery usage.
New stuff in this device include tri-band HSDPA (900/1900/2100), Something we’ve all been dying for which is USB Charging through the MicroUSB port and a newly introduced OLED 2.6” Screen that is supposed to bring better colour combinations and improve visibility and at the same time dramatically cut the battery usage of the 1200 mAH battery that has an average stand-by time of a whopping 363 hours, also the device comes with an 8GB MicroSD cart which is kinda nice and prevents the User’s memory hassles.
Other specs include running the latest S60 V3 FP2, dual-slider design, the multimedia keys also work as gaming keys just like the N96 and as I stated before the 5 Megapixel camera with dual LED flash, GPS chip, WiFi 802.11b/g and 3.6 MB/S HSDPA.
I personally think that Nokia released this device in order not to miss sales of the people that want to buy an N96 and can’t afford it, in other words, Nokia released this device to be a cheap alternative to the N96, Things that are included in the N96 and are missing in the N85 are a bigger 2.8” screen, the DVB-H video receiver which’s not available in most countries and the 16 GB on-board memory, so the User wouldn’t have to scarify significant features of the N96 when buying an N85.
The N85 will available on October priced at around 450€.
