Nokia Chat Unveiled

Kirollos Fares | July 10, 2008

Nokia Beta Labs unveiled the new instant messaging client called Nokia Chat  for S60 V3 phones that is not just like any other instant messaging client, it utilizes the built-in GPS receivers and allows an easier choice for consumers to share their location with specific friends or broadcast it to the whole group.

The idea is quiet innovative, though this is already supported by Nokia Maps where the location can be SMSed to anyone having a phone equipped with Nokia Maps.

Though this may seem to be it’s primary function, to share locations, It failed to locate myself during a trial chat with Abul from Adonisdemon.com, I tried to see the satellite status from GPS Data application and it located the exact position, but at the same time, the Nokia chat froze at “Getting Position”, A Huge downside for me, when it comes to instant messaging it does it’s job like any other instant messenger.

It Vibrates when you get an instant message, instead of producing noisy sounds, something that I really like, and it can be accessed directly from contacts application, Also, all the sinning-up is done from the application.

More Info and download links available at Beta Labs website.

New Accelerometer Application : NiiMe

Kirollos Fares | January 22, 2008

logoweb.jpg

I’ve said this before, and I’m saying it now , Accelerometer applications just keep getting better and better , From Rotateme,Nokmote, Accelereinvaders, ShutUp,Flipsilent and let’s not forget all Python apps

This new Python application brings the accelerometer applications to a whole new creative level ,and it adds a new feature to your phone , which is the ability of connecting it to the PC via Bluetooth and using it as a 3D mouse.

The Idea is very creative , and you haven’t heard the best part yet , The application is free, but of-course donors will receive the first betas , it’s starting to be a stereotype

The video shows the N95 Controling Google Earth in Flight mode , Then controlling the cursor in Windows Vista desktop
