Once Again, We’re Ignored

Kirollos Fares | August 30, 2008

“This was written the day of the launch of the N79 and N85 on a beautiful sandy beach in Hurghada, I simply wrote this because I’m fed up with Nokia’s ignorance to this issue.”

Disclaimer: I’ll try to regard this as the last time I rant about this, so please try to relate to the poor suckers that live in Egypt without legal GPS goodness.

Problem: GPS devices are banned in Egypt for no reason at all, that means we don’t get to buy/try/see/touch/feel :P cool devices like others all over the world.

Nokia Nseries Designers: Out Of Ideas?!

Kirollos Fares | August 29, 2008

How many of you noticed the huge and obvious similarities in the design of nearly all the newly announced Nseries phones that are all based on the design of the N81? The N96 looks like it, the N78 has some design genes in common and even the newly announced N85 continues this horrifying cycle.

Seriously, Nokia people, are outta your minds? Nokia used to lead the industry in shipping crazy and marvelous phone designs that makes holding a phone feels great, like for instance the N93i’s design, Yah, it’s a gigantic device but at the same time the design is quiet innovative, Read the rest of this entry »

Nokia N79: Entertainment Powerhouse in an Ugly front design

Kirollos Fares | August 28, 2008

Other newly announced device along the N85 is the N79, believed to be the upgrade of the not-so-old N78, The N79 supports a 5 Megapixel camera with dual LED Flash which is an upgrade of the 3.2 Megapixel one found in the N78, but other than that, nothing has changed a lot, except the design.

Other specs include GPS chip, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a smallish 2.4” screen with no OLED, the key lock introduced in the N81, a 3.5mm audio output jack, 3.5G HSDPA and though this phone was announced coincidently with the N85, it doesn’t support USB charging through the MicroUSB port “wouldn’t it be great if every Nokia design team get together and try to implement minor changes on each phone like the USB charging, because it’s weird not to see that implemented in the N79”.

Cheap N96 Alternative announced: Nokia N85

Kirollos Fares | August 27, 2008

In an event in London, Nokia announced the newest member in the Nseries family, the N85, at the first glance, this phone looks similar to the N81 “Typical”, and sports nearly the same specs of the Nseries devices i.e. The 5 Megapixel camera, GPS and WiFi, but with MAJOR changes when It comes to the Screen, Connectivity, USB Charging and Battery usage.

New stuff in this device include tri-band HSDPA (900/1900/2100), Something we’ve all been dying for which is USB Charging through the MicroUSB port and a newly introduced OLED 2.6” Screen that is supposed to bring better colour combinations and improve visibility and at the same time dramatically cut the battery usage of the 1200 mAH battery that has an average stand-by time of a whopping 363 hours, also the device comes with an 8GB MicroSD cart which is kinda nice and prevents the User’s memory hassles. Beijing 2008 Theme

Kirollos Fares | July 30, 2008

Before I start to drag and brag about this wonderful theme, I’d like to deeply apologise to my readers (If there’s readers :P ) for not updating my blog so often, and this time I can’t blame it on my studies, It’s just that there’s alot of weird things happening in my life that I don’t have the mood to blog, and I would desperately want that to end.

Anyway, Pizero just published one of the greatest theme he’s ever done (Yah, I know ém all, and I love ém) entitled Beijing 2008, you know, The Olympic Games? “If you still got no clue then you need to start reading the papers”, So I wanted to share it with you guys!

I’ve always been fascinated about the Olympics and the whole idea of gathering the world’s most talented professional sportsmen and women to compete, Of course I’d die to attend an Olympic opening ceremony but I can’t travel to Beijing “Too expensive”, and I don’t dare to dream of a Cairo 2xxx Olympics, we did try to enter the ballot of the 2008 Olympics, but we didn’t even qualify for the short list! :P
