Cheap N96 Alternative announced: Nokia N85

Kirollos Fares | August 27, 2008

In an event in London, Nokia announced the newest member in the Nseries family, the N85, at the first glance, this phone looks similar to the N81 “Typical”, and sports nearly the same specs of the Nseries devices i.e. The 5 Megapixel camera, GPS and WiFi, but with MAJOR changes when It comes to the Screen, Connectivity, USB Charging and Battery usage.

New stuff in this device include tri-band HSDPA (900/1900/2100), Something we’ve all been dying for which is USB Charging through the MicroUSB port and a newly introduced OLED 2.6” Screen that is supposed to bring better colour combinations and improve visibility and at the same time dramatically cut the battery usage of the 1200 mAH battery that has an average stand-by time of a whopping 363 hours, also the device comes with an 8GB MicroSD cart which is kinda nice and prevents the User’s memory hassles. N-Gage 2.0 Released : Get Out and Play!

Kirollos Fares | April 4, 2008

In a very modest way of telling people the news they all been waiting for, N-Gage Blog announced the semi-official release of N-Gage, it’ll be officially announced on Monday.

The new N-Gage 2.0 is installable on Nokia N81, N82, N95 and N95 8GB , Other N-Gage compatible devices “Nokia N73, N93 and N93i” is expected to join the N-Gage gaming festival soon.

Download The New N-Gage, by clicking here or pointing your mobile device to http://n-gage.mobi/d .

My first impressions of this new version is no good at all, I was coward enough not to buy any game during the first access period, I tried to buy Brain Challenge which is by the way is addictive, the purchase process was easy, That’s not the bad part, the bad part about this new release is that the application is now very buggy, it crashes very often no, sometimes it refused to shutdown, and a reboot is the only cure.

A Tip for all people who trialled N-Gage during first access, bought some games, and don’t want to screw up saved games and achievemnts, The official N-Gage blog states that all first access saved games will be deleted, but don’t count that as a fact, After I re-installed the new version of N-Gage on my N95 “Which had the old version of N-Gage with some games installed”, All Games were still peresent and I was able to see my scores in System Rush Game, in short words, Don’t delete the actual games, cause your data will not be deleted.

N-Gage First Access Ending With A Game Giveaway

Kirollos Fares | March 23, 2008

The so called First Access of N-gage is ending on march 27th according to N-Gage Blog, No one’s sure whether they’ll release the final version directly after that, and the end of the first access period means that Nokia no longer supports the first access N-gage app, and that all you’ve done raising your N-Gage points and your saved games will be struck by a tsunami once you install the full release of N-Gage “In other words, it’ll be gone!”, Which is something really annoying, I don’t care about the points, but I worked hard playing creatures of the deep, and I certainly don’t want to lose that data.

I almost forgot to write about the giveaway part, I’m sure that made you rethink reading this post, Nokia wants to reward all N-gagers out there, for trying out the service, and If you fill in the survey “Subject:N-Gage ofcourse, you’ll recieve by e-mail an activation code for an upcoming Mile High Pinball game” and 1000 community points.

I previously summed up my thoughts about the First Access here.

First Thoughts On N-Gage

Kirollos Fares | February 18, 2008

N-gage Logo

Updated: I just found out that this is my 100th post!, Congrats to me ;)

No words could describe my feeling the day I knew N-Gage would be released, for the N81 users, I felt lucky that I had an N81 8GB, courtesy of WOM World, and I immediately e-mailed them, asking for extension of the trial period, 5 minutes later, N-Gage gets cracked, Many thanks to P@sco for doing so, and the first access N-Gage works on almost any device.

Having an 8GB MicroSD, The installation of N-Gage, and it’s gigantic demos weren’t nervous-breaking when it comes to having free memory, but for a lot of users this will be/form an issue, And 2 hours after playing with N-Gage, I was disappointed, I liked it, but the WOW factor didn’t reach my head, Until just yesterday, after playing a couple of multiplayer N-Gage Games, When I discovered that N-Gage is one of the best pieces of software/services Nokia has ever offered. Kirollos Fares | February 4, 2008

m-gage-firstacess.jpgI just finished installing the N-Gage application, and frankly, I’m a bit disappointed, I tried to log in with the screen name I reserved the day N-Gage was launched, but it said it wasn’t found on the database!!

I logged on N-gage.com, and tried to register it again, I couldn’t , as the name was in the database!, so currently there are the databases are kinda separated, i registered from the Application on the N81.

These screenshots are EXCLUSIVE, i took them myself, no stealing plz ;) . Read the rest of this entry »
